Boys Varsity Soccer · Boys Soccer Gets CIF 1st Round Win!

The boys soccer team entered the D3 CIF Tournament as the #11 seed on the road at non-league rival Valhalla HS. After losing 2-0 early in the season the boys were focused to turn things around.

After 10 minutes Valhalla went up by a goal after an unfortunate own-goal off a corner kick. To the boy’s credit they kept calm and played positive. After controlling play following the goal, Kaz Rubin struck a shot from outside the 18 that was deflected and found the back of the net to equal the score. With 5 minutes left in the 1st half PHHS was able to clear a corner, Micheal Medina collected the ball on a counter-attack and played a beautiful through ball to Jacob Lakin who timed his run perfectly behind the defense and took a one-touch shot to find the back of the net for the 2-1 halftime lead.

The second half was very competitive and with their backs against the wall and some very timely saves by Skyler Edwards were able to secure the 2-1 victory. You can view the KUSI PPR All Sports Report (7:54) by clicking here.

Next up, the boys travel to Otay Ranch HS on Saturday February 24 at 5:00pm.
