Last night’s game against the Montgomery Aztecs ended in exciting fashion.
Our JV squad fought a gritty nearly two-hour battle against a well-coached team. The game momentum went back and forth with both teams building leads and losing them, but even down going in to the fourth quarter Henry’s balanced teamwork and some spectacular plays from several girls kept us in contention.
The final moments saw several lead changes, and with seconds left Henry junior Kiana Okamura went to the line and tied it up at 39. After a turnover, the ball ended up in Kiana’s hands again, and as time expired she drew a foul, putting her back at the line. With the opposing team’s bench and its fans screaming and stomping, Kiana calmly put the ball through for the winning point.
Coach Dion and the players’ parents are very proud of the effort the Lady Patriots put forth tonight.
