Varsity Roller Ends Season with a Thrilling Battle

The PHHS Patriots Varsity Roller Hockey Team ended its season with a back-and-forth matchup with Eastlake HS in the CIF Quarterfinals.  The Patriots fell behind 4-1 early in the game, but battled back to take a 6-5 lead into the 3rd period.  Matthew Voegel led the way with 4 goals and Tyler Daniel added 2 assists, while Brett Miller and Dylan Montes each added one goal.
In the 3rd period, Eastlake countered with 3 quick goals to take an 8-6 lead.
Then, with less than a minute left, Ruben Allen set up Matt Russell to make it a one goal game, 8-7.
The Patriots had 3 excellent opportunities in the last 45 seconds to send the game into OT, but each was turned away by solid Eastlake goaltending.
The roller team ended the season with a 10-9 record and 3 players were named to the All-North County CIF Team.  Those players are goaltender Josh Mitchell, forward Matthew Voegel and defenseman Matt Russell.
