PATRICK HENRY 5 (4-0), DEL NORTE 1 (3-1)

The Patriots have been on a roll over the last couple days winning all their contests and on Saturday it was no different as they came from behind and never looked back.

Del Norte would strike first in the top of the third inning with 2 outs as they took advantage of a Patriots miscue which allowed Valeria Pero to score to give the Nighthawks the early 1-0 lead.

The lead wouldn’t hold as Patrick Henry started the bottom half of the inning with consecutive singles by Maya Dickerson (1-1) and Kaiah Altmeyer (1-2, R, 2 SB), Dickerson would be thrown out at third but Altmeyer would be safe at second on the double steal, she would advance to third on a Jessica Dewitt (2-3, R, 3 SB) single, she proceeded to steal second, Altmeyer came into score and tie the game at 1-1 on a base hit by Olivia Gigante (1-3, RBI). Henry would then make a gutsy call by having Dewitt steal home in which she was safe to give the Patriots the lead 2-1.

Patrick Henry added to their lead in the bottom of the fourth with one out as Sydney Newton (1-2, R, SB) and Dezianna Patman (1-2, R, SB) each singled, Newton stole third and Patman stole second, Laila Spracklen (RBI) grounded out but Newton raced home to make it 3-1 and Patman advanced to third. With two outs and runners on the Patriots added more as Dewitt reached on an error scoring Patman and once again another gutsy call as Altmeyer stole home to make it 5-1.

Also contributing to the 9 hits was Lauren Nett who went 2-3.

The five runs would be all Gigante would need run wise as she held the Nighthawks in check and picked up the victory. In the victory, she went all 5 innings giving up 1 run on 1 hit while walking 1 and fanning 5 on the day.
