PATRICK HENRY 6, SAN DIEGO 0

Coming off of winning the City League crown the other day the Patrick Henry Patriots (21-6-1 Overall, 11-1 City) continued their momentum as Kyle Wilsie tossed a gem of an outing for a complete game victory.

The Patriots behind a Ryan Preciado (3-4, 3R, 2 RBI, HR) two-run blast in the top of the first inning would take a 2-0 lead early on. The home run also scored Tomas Gaglianao (RUN) who came into run for Dante Juliano (2-5) who led off the inning with a single.

Moving to the top of the third inning, Preciado would strike again this time leading off with a base hit, Mateo Medina (2-3, 2R, RBI, 2 2B) followed with a double, Jonathan Marshall (1-2, RBI) was hit by a pitch which would load the bases.

A couple of batters later with one out Andrew McAlpin (RBI) walked which brought home Preciado and Garrett McKee followed with a run scoring sacrifice fly bringing home Medina which made it 4-0.

Patrick Henry in the top of the fourth inning added a couple more runs with two outs. Starting things off was Preciado who singled, Medina brought him home when he smashed a double and Marshall drove in Medina with a base hit to right field.

The six runs scored by the Patriots was all Wilsie would need despite giving up a couple of base hits and a walk in the bottom of the fourth he would get out of the jam.

Moving to the bottom of the seventh, Wilsie started off by walking the lead hitter but he settled down and retired the next three batters to end the game.

Roberto Gonzalez took the loss for the San Diego Cavers (7-20 Overall, 4-8 City) as he only lasted 2.1 innings in which he gave up 4 runs all earned on 5 hits and walked 2.

Wilsie for the Patriots picked up his third victory on the season as he went the whole 7 innings in which he gave up 0 runs on 4 hits while walking 4 and striking out 5.

Patrick Henry finishes the regular season on a six-game winning streak.

The Patriots who are currently in a dead heat tie with Mira Mesa in the Division III Power Rankings at 43.50 will more than likely finish as the #2 seed by virtue of head-to-head as Mira Mesa defeated the Patriots 3-2 back on April 6th. The Playoff pairings and seeding will be announced on Saturday.
