Boy’s XC Eastern League Champions!

The Patrick Henry Cross Country team competed in the Eastern League Championships on Wednesday, November 13, 2019, at Morley Field. The Patrick Henry Boys’ Varsity and Junior Varsity teams both won their races while many of the girls had their best performances of the season.

Junior Aiden Davis won the Boys’ Varsity race, covering the 3.11 mile course in 15:58 to earn league champion honors. He was followed by Junior Charlie Dunnigan (16:24), Sophomore Caden Romaine-Gleim (16:37), Senior Nate Cruz (16:42), Sophomore Preston Bowlds (16:45), Sophomore James Brumley (17:04), and Senior Jack Urie (17:25) to round out the scoring for the Patriots. The Patriots were undefeated in league competition this season and dominated the championship race, defeating their rivals Mira Mesa to win the Championship.

In the JV Boys’ Championship race, Senior Nick Lord ran a great race to win in 17:56, followed by Sophomore Keegan Tibbetts (18:08), Senior Joshua Malcangio-Andrews (18:09), Senior Justin Catalano (18:20), Junior Ryan Spaulding (18:42), Freshman CJ Graff (18:45), and Senior Kai Cinco (18:57). The Patriots beat Point Loma to earn the Eastern League Title.

Sophomore Annabel Shafter (22:11), Junior Kaiya Smith (22:24), Junior Natalie Wolf (22:30), and Senior Timber Carey (22:57) led the Women’s Varsity Squad against Point Loma, Mira Mesa, OLP, High Tech, Crawford, and Hoover.

And in the Girls’ JV Championship race, Junior Sofia Serrato (23:07) ran her best race of the season followed by Sophomores Justina Malcangio-Andrews (23:54) and Jordan Alfaro, and Seniors Dani Toleno (25:16) and Marina Zuniga (25:27).

In addition to winning the Eastern League Title, Davis garnered both Junior of the Year and Male Runner of the Year honors. Similarly, Romaine-Gleim earned Sophomore of the Year honors by virtue of his dominant performances over the course of the season.

Medalists for the championships included Davis, Dunnigan, Romaine-Gleim, Cruz, Bowlds, Lord, Tibbetts, Joshua Malcangio-Andrews, Catalano, Spaulding, Graff, Cinco, and Serrato.
