As it stands right now, the SDUSD will reassess on August 10 when to begin on-campus learning and other options.

A major question for us right now…what does this mean for fall Athletics and the rest of 2020-2021?

As of right now, there have been no decisions made. In May, the CIF issued various timeline plans that anticipated the potential for this to happen. If the beginning of the fall season is pushed back from the traditional start of July 30, the next phase of starting the fall season will become the new plan.

The next CIF meeting is July 20, at that time there may be an announcement made that alters the previous decisions due to this ever-changing situation.

Patriot Nation, I am incredibly disappointed with the reality our student-athletes are missing out on the opportunity to do what they love. My heart goes out to them.

As we navigate through this difficult time, my pursuit is for this time to be meaningful. Usually educators, coaches, and mentors discuss and prepare students for hypothetical events in “the future.” Now is the time to rise to the largest challenge we have faced. Our athletes are encouraged to meet obstacles with the determination to accept challenge and work to overcome. It is never meant to be easy. Let this moment bring out the best of who we are.

We have more than six weeks until the start of the school year. Please take time to mentally and practically prepare for the unique learning challenges. We will continue to post updates as new information is released. Patriot Nation, stay safe, stay healthy, find a way to thrive.
