Girls Varsity Soccer · Women’s Soccer Earns Another Shutout in 2-0 Victory!

Two Straight Shutout Victories for Women’s Soccer

From the starting whistle the Lady Patriots took the game to El Capitan. A ton of possession finally paid off with an amazing run down the right wing by Addison Slinger. Addison whipped in a great cross where Sarah Konig beat her defender for a great one time finish. Amazing build-up and quality finish. The game was still only 1-0 even with all the possession and opportunities.
The second half continuous pressure finally gave the Lady Patriots a two goal much deserving cushion. Once again Addison took a ball and played it directly into the feet of Caitlin Cogan outside the box. Caitlin first touch split two defenders and went in alone and dribbled past the keeper and slotting the ball in.

Goalkeepers Sofia Zambrana and Grace Miller split the halves and posted a second clean sheet. Currently the Ladies have conceded 1 goal in three matches while scoring 8 goals.
The defense is lead by senior Abigail Hayes who plays the position with such ease. Alongside Abigail is Melia Gianulias, Vanessa Hurst, Samantha Bancalari, and Makenna Hunt.
The midfield is lead by senior captain Maleia Ferreira. She controls the game and supports the offense moving the ball with precise passing. Gigi Gigante, Sarah Konig, Addison Slinger, Avary Slimko, Kasey Dill, Lily Boyd, Meg Holmes, Jennifer Pineda, and Riley Calbow have all put in quality minutes. Up top Natalia Arias and freshmen sensation Caitlin Cogan is tough to slow down. Caitlin has 3 goals in 3 games and has been a problem for the opposition. Her pace and determination is what the team feeds off.
A tough stretch of 3 games are upcoming and this will test the ladies. These upcoming games will give us a look at where we against the top programs in San Diego. Expectations are growing with every win. Most importantly our seniors are playing for their high school during some challenging times. Let’s all rally around this amazing group of Lady Patriots and cheer them on.
